Project Update: Level Design Document
Last week, I was asked to fill out a game design test by a potential employer and, as luck would have it, one of the exercises involved designing a level for a “Dungeon & Dragons”-style RPG. Since I had already done a lot of the design prep work for my current Dragon Age mod, I decided to use my project as the basis for the exercise.
After submitting the test, I figured it would be a shame to let a good design document go to waste, so I decided to continue fleshing it out as a fun, little pre-production exercise. Continue reading…
Status Update: New Project!
I finally feel comfortable enough announcing the new project I’m working on. It’s something I’ve been planning for a while and now that I finally have some free time to dedicate to it, I figured it was a good time to start it.
Thoughts on Game Design: Terraria & Tutorials
The first time I played Terraria, I shut it off in frustration after about 5 minutes.
The second time I booted up the game, I played it for over 10 hours straight.
Why such a big discrepancy? In a single word: tutorials.
