Apple Arcade (2020-2023)
What I Worked On
- Based on my own personal lived experience in a long-distance relationship.
- Managed a team of five full-time developers, as well as served as the main point of contact for third-party service providers of art, audio, QA, localization, and porting.
- Designed and implemented all of the puzzles, which were prototyped first on graph paper and then implemented in-game using our editor tool. Puzzles were adjusted, or even removed entirely, based on playtesting.
- Designed and tuned the UX for digital folding paper on three control schemes (mouse/keyboard, controller and touch). Partnered with an academic UX research team at Ontario Tech University to playtest and refine different designs.
- Wrote all dialogue and tutorial text and implemented branching dialogue choice options.
- Designed and programmed all of the user interface menus, featuring right-to-left support for Arabic and a scrollable carousel for selecting levels.
- Programmed and implemented event triggers to control level completion, cutscenes, tutorial pop-ups, audio transitions, and screen fades.
- Programmed custom cutscene skip controls that bypassed limitations with Unity’s timeline system.
- Implemented all of the audio events in timelines, animations, and triggers.
A Fold Apart has been enjoyed by over 275,000 players across 7 platforms in 16 languages. We were also selected to present the game at the 2017 Experimental Gameplay Workshop, which can be seen below:
