Over the past decade, I’ve had the honour of crafting award-winning game experiences as Co-founder and Lead Game Designer at Lightning Rod Games. Across my career, I’ve worn many hats (often all at once); I’ve fine-tuned a responsive player controller one day, organized playtests through our Discord the next, all while securing funding to bring these visions to life. I’m not just passionate about game design — I’m obsessed with creating systems, features, and interactions that feel great and that players can bond with on both an emotional and tactile level.
At Lightning Rod, I’ve led a fully remote team, so collaboration is second nature to me. Whether it’s writing clear documentation for new features or aligning an entire team around a design vision, I’ve developed the skills to ensure we all stay on the same page — even when we’re separated by distance. I approach leadership much like I approach design: empathetically, with clear communication, and a perpetual drive to iterate.
The key abilities I bring to a team:
- Comprehensive technical design expertise, from C#/C++ scripting to tools design to rapid prototyping — you name it, I’ve built it.
- Design leadership that turns big ideas into systems and gameplay moments users want to keep interacting with.
- Clear communication of game ideas, from writing pitch decks that inspire to creating detailed design specs that cross-disciplinary teams can execute on.
- A player-first mindset, informed by my own lifelong love of all things games — whether it’s DMing a D&D campaign, diving into a co-op game with my friends, or kicking back in my recliner to explore a deep, story-driven adventure.
I take pride in my ability to foster a culture that empowers a team to do their best work, and if there’s one thing my experience has taught me, it’s how to listen — to players, my team, and the data — to achieve what’s best for the project.
I’m ready to bring my energy, expertise, and determination to help build something extraordinary. If you are interested, let’s chat!
